Weather in Pondicherry is hot and humid. During summers the temperature can rise up to 40 degrees. Being a territory bordered by the sea, Pondicherry remains warm throughout the year. However, for tourists, the best time to visit this destination is anytime between October to March.

Amongst other options as to how to reach Pondicherry, one can also travel by train. The nearest railway station is called Villupuram. It is situated at a distance of 36 km west of Pondicherry. From Villupuram one can easily reach cities like Rameshwaram, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trivandrum and Chennai directly. Since the train line to Pondicherry becomes narrow gauge from Villupuram, one can opt to travel to Pondicherry by road from here.
Pondicherry is very well connected by road with major cities of Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. There are frequent interstate buses plying every fifteen to thirty minutes from Chennai. Thus, traveling to Pondicherry is hassle free and convenient.
